The wait for an easy-to-get-started BLE112 kit is over!
The USB-BLE112 bluetooth adaptor is a full development kit for the Bluegiga BLE112 module, and uses a FTDI virtual serial port to communicate to the Bluegiga BLE112 module. The USB-BLE112 costs less than 20% of the cost of the Official Bluegiga DKBLE112 kit which is worth ~$400 and is much easier to use. (http://www.glynstore.com/bluegiga-dkble112-bluetooth-4-0-low-energy-development-kit/). For best value we recommend the two piece kit or the USB-BLE112/BLED112 dongle kit since bluetooth data always needs a receiver.
The USB-BLE112 can be used by simply plugging into to any USB port. It can be reprogrammed using the standard 0.1" IDC10 connector and can be used with a breadboard using the 0.1" side connector. When external powered by 3.3V from a breadboard the FTDI USB serial chip is held in reset and the BLE112 module can be accessed directly.
The USB-BLE112 adaptor can be used as a BLE112 bluetooth starter kit. Bluetooth can be up and running in these easy steps:
Plug the USB-BLE112 adaptor into a bluetooth port
Install the FTDI driver or let windows automatically load the driver
Determine the COM port selected by the adaptor
Start a terminal program such as Blue Terminal or Putty
Select the baud rate as 115200 (by default)
Click the Reset button using a paper clip to view the Reset message.
Type data in and watch it appear on the other bluetooth device.
